IDEO proudly supports the NHSDA for students aged 11 to 18 in K-12 schools, private studios, community centers, and performing arts centers. Learn more at ndeo.org/nhsda or email info@idahodeo.org.
A student chapter may be set up in any private or public middle or high school, dance academy, performing arts center, or community center with an active dance program serving students aged 11 to 18. First identify a Chapter Sponsor, who must be a current NDEO institutional member, then contact IDEO to apply. Chapter Sponsors coordinate with school personnel so that induction is acknowledged on student transcripts and at graduation.
Upon induction, all students receive a certificate of membership in the NHSDA. Students in participating high schools can wear the NHSDA honor cord and gold honor pin at graduation. Members may take part in special events or receive mailings from the state chapters, and are encouraged to include their membership in scholarship packets and resumes for college or dance employment.
There are two levels: the Junior Chapter for grades 6 to 8, and the Secondary Chapter for grades 9 to 12. The NHSDA Chapter Sponsor Handbook and full details for both are available at ndeo.org/nhsda. IDEO's NHSDA Chair is Hilarie Neely.
