IDEO recognizes excellence in dance education across Idaho. Nominations are emailed to info@idahodeo.org.
This award acknowledges a stellar dance educator from the membership, granted to educators from different teaching environments. Recipients should inspire and motivate their students and significantly impact their community, demonstrating excellence in creating ideas for programs, curricula, or projects with significant impact on the field. Recipients: 2016 Kelli Brown. 2017 Marla Hansen, Boise State University. 2018 Cynthia Jones, College of Southern Idaho. 2019 Hilarie Neely. 2023 Rachel Swenson.
The most prestigious award IDEO confers, given for exemplary leadership, research, scholarship or artistry, and philanthropy or service to dance education over a lifetime. Honorees will have contributed to the field for at least fifteen years and be recognized as influential figures in the dance or dance education community. Recipients: 2015 Dr. Marcia L. Lloyd. 2017 Diane Walker, Professor Emerita of Dance. 2021 Dr. Lauralee Zimmerly.
Nomination deadline is May 1, with voting closing June 1. Email nominations to info@idahodeo.org with the award applied for, the nominator's name and relationship to the applicant, the nominee's contact details and institutions, plus a CV or resume, a bio of 500 words or less, and a headshot. Nominees must be NDEO members in good standing with five or more consecutive years of membership. Self-nomination is allowed for every award except Lifetime Achievement. Nominators and recipients should expect to attend the annual IDEO Conference and awards presentation.
